Since October 2022, Remploy has been working closely with Simon Community Scotland to support our Fair Start Scotland participants into sustainable and meaningful employment.
Simon Community Scotland is the largest provider of homelessness services in Scotland. The national charity delivers a range of services across North Lanarkshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Perth to help people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.
Julie Dennis, Regional Account Manager at Remploy, has been working closely with them to help source the right participants for their care sector vacancies.
The relationship continues to go from strength to strength, with the charity regularly attending our job fairs in North Lanarkshire to meet with our participants. Alongside this, Julie circulates their vacancies around her team to source suitable applicants and raise awareness of the opportunities available.
Melissa Reid, Service Lead at Simon Community Scotland, said: “Due to the changes in recruitment post-COVID, as an employer we are using lots of different methods and techniques to make our jobs attractive and interesting to potential candidates.
“By working with Julie and the team at Remploy, we have been assisted in finding the right candidates for the roles we have available.
“Recently, three candidates have been sourced for us by Remploy. Since joining, they are all doing great in their new roles and thriving from the continuous support provided by Remploy.”
One of the participants who recently started working with them added: “The Fair Start Scotland service is well structured, engaging, and informative. My Key Workers were determined to see me find a job that aligned with my goals.
“I started working here after six months of support from Remploy. They have a good support system and guide you every step of the way. I continue to get support and guidance, giving me the tools to succeed in my new job.”
Julie Dennis, Remploy’s Regional Account Manager, explained: “It’s great that Simon Community have agreed to become one of our main employer partners in Lanarkshire. I have established a close working relationship with Melissa Reid, who understands what we are trying to achieve at Remploy and shares our values of helping participants to secure sustainable employment.”
We are looking forward to continuing to work with Simon Community Scotland – ensuring that our participants have access to sustainable employment opportunities and can work for organisations that understand their needs and circumstances.
