Finley moves up the career ladder

Finley* from Dundee joined the Fair Start Scotland service in January 2023, after being unemployed for six months. He had previous experience working in call centres but was hoping to find a role that would give him more financial freedom.

Finley received support from his dedicated Key Worker, Dionne Murphy, to help identify his barriers to employment.

He was experiencing anxiety about returning to work and wasn’t confident in his interview skills. Dionne organised for Finley to attend employability development sessions, where he rebuilt his confidence and spent time practising his interview skills.

Dionne also worked with Finley to identify his transferable skills and update his CV.

In February 2023, only one month later, Finley successfully secured a role as a Community Delivery Manager for a delivery company.

This opportunity was a step up the career ladder for Finley and he has now been able to improve his lifestyle and move into a better flat as a result.

Reflecting on his experience, Finley said: “I want to thank Remploy for all their help and guidance as they have helped me get this opportunity. I am very grateful.”
