Home Icon

Security jobs look for physically fit, observant people.

You might work in public security, protecting people and infrastructure for government-owned events and buildings. But there are also roles in private security, where you will work for privately-owned businesses or places.

What are the different security roles?

There are many different security jobs available:

Event security officer

Event security guards protect the safety of people at events. Your role might include stopping people from entering the event without a ticket, making sure people get to emergency or fire exits, and controlling large crowds.

You will need to remain calm under pressure and communicate well with your coworkers.

Door supervisor

As a door supervisor, you will make sure a building’s entrance and exits are protected. You may be required to check IDs or tickets, manage crowds and escort people from the building when necessary.

Door supervisors need good communication skills and physical fitness.

CCTV operator

CCTV operators monitor many CCTV feeds at once. You will need to be able to pay attention to many different screens, without becoming distracted.

CCTV operators have good observation skills, patience and the ability to think quickly.
