After the interview

What happens after the interview?

Once the interviews are finished, the employer will decide who they think is best for the role. They will contact them to offer the role before letting the unsuccessful applicants know.

If you get the job

Congratulations! Take a look at how to plan for your first day at work.

What happens if you don’t get the job?

Don’t worry, not everyone will be successful when they apply for a job. Try to think about how you can use the experience to build on your strengths. Also have a think about any areas that you may need to improve on, to help you find the right job.

Feedback

Ask for feedback on your interview. This will help you to build on your skills in these areas ready for your next interview.

Sometimes an employer will be looking for someone with very specific skills, rather than experience. At other times, the role may go to an internal candidate, or to the person the interviewer clicks with best.
