Growing confidence with our community partner, Dress for Success

On Friday 26 May, a group of our Fair Start Scotland participants were accompanied to a suiting and styling session with our Community Partnership Network (CPN) member, Dress for Success Scotland.

We have been working closely with the national charity to help participants to access interview training and free work clothing, while boosting their confidence and self-esteem.

Dress for Success has been part of our Community Partnership Network for the past six years – providing vital support to hundreds of local women.

Our participants were welcomed into the Glasgow boutique, where the team organised two sessions to support them in preparing for their upcoming interviews.

This consisted of a styling session to assist them in choosing and trying on interview outfits, as well as a tutorial on hair and makeup that focused on how to best present themselves for interview. The day was a great success and our participants left feeling more confident and ready for their upcoming interviews.

One participant shared: “I loved my experience from start to finish. All the ladies at Dress for Success were so helpful and made me feel at ease. Thank you so much for all my lovely clothes and accessories.”

Peita-Anne Paterson, Partnership Manager, works closely with Dress for Success. Peita-Anne’s role is to build and maintain partner relationships like this one, to secure further support and development opportunities for Fair Start Scotland participants.

She said: “The work that Dress for Success does is not just supplying clothes to women, it is about helping them with their confidence, building them up and supporting their future successes.

“The work we do with Dress for Success enables us to secure more opportunities for our participants to gain sustainable employment and shows how partnership working can really make a difference to people’s lives.”
