Prisons & Probations Ombudsman switch to training online

Daniel Crockford, Head of Strategic Support, Prisons & Probations Ombudsman explains how our online training has helped them adapt whilst continuing to support their workforce’s mental health:

“As an organisation, we wanted to increase the offer of support that we could provide for our staff. We identified Remploy as a preferred supplier through the Learning Platform for Government. 

We’ve partnered with Remploy over the last year to deliver colleague mental health development and had arranged face-to-face training for our staff support members in early 2020. But, due to the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions we had to postpone the scheduled training.  

Unlike some of our other Learning & Development suppliers, we were impressed with Remploy as they were able to adapt to the situation and provide an alternative route of blended training. It was a little trickier to get multiple dates in the diary, but the training was so well received and Barrie (the Trainer) clearly demonstrating his experience and knowledge in this field. The delegates learnt a great deal using the online live learning sessions and achieved the outputs required by our organisation.

Since March, we have seen an increase in our staff reaching out for mental health help and we are confident that our staff can provide invaluable support for this and future mental health challenges. We have arranged another training session in January 2021, so more of our staff will be able to provide support for their colleagues.”
