20th February 2008
Pat DaleA former town councillor and having notched up more than 12 years’ service at Remploy’s Halifax factory, Pat has spent the past decade as the site’s union representative, but is about to become Bradford’s new branch coordinator. With the Halifax factory due to close in the near future, she has decided to make use of use her considerable knowledge and, through Remploy, help disabled people in Bradford find sustainable jobs with employers throughout the city.
Remploy’s network of high street branches will expand considerably this year, and the new facility which will be established in Bradford will play a key part in helping the organisation achieve its target of finding 20,000 jobs a year for people with disabilities and health conditions by 2012.
“I genuinely care that disabled people have equal access to real jobs, and want to put to good use the skills I have learned with Remploy,” said 47-year-old Pat. “I really am excited by the prospect of being involved with the new branch from the moment it opens its doors.”
Colleagues at Remploy’s new recruitment branch in Bradford will work closely with the city’s Jobcentre Plus offices and employers to ensure that people with disabilities and health conditions are considered equally when vacancies arise. Alongside this, the Bradford branch team will provide basic skills for employment and vocational training to disabled people, assisting them with job searching, offering help with completing application forms and arranging job tasters and interviews.
