"My name is Richard Wright and I am 23 years old. I came to Remploy Sunderland with support from my nurse with NTW NHS. At first it was difficult for me to get to know everyone and remember everything. I completed an induction and recieved training in moving and handling and safe working practise. I now have lots of confidence and attend the factory working on the shop floor independant without support from NHS. I enjoy my time here and feel valued and equal dispite my learning disability".

"We have a young lady who works for Remploy in Leicester who is a great inspiration to all. Her name is Laura Turner and she has a sight impairment. Now to most of us, this would be devastating but to Laura, it's life and on top of it all she's an award winning sports lady too, winning commendations for her equestrian efforts! That's right, this young lady, with a sight impairment, rides horses and not just little ones but huge ones and to an award winning standard! Laura is an inspiration to all who work with her and we should all feel lucky to have such a person in our organisation. She's most definitely aiming high and achieving".

"Currently I am working for a mental health charity called Key Enterprises, one of their activities, amongst the many they provide, is giving people a chance to fulfill an ambition in their life. Several of the people who attend Key Enterprises wanted to sing and learn to play musical instruments. There are now 13 members, aged between 18 and 60, who regularly meet during lunchtimes and at least one evening a week to rehearse. In addition, their band, Keytones, has performed at 6 public events in and around Newcastle and has proven to be a fantastic opportunity for people with mental health issues to experience enjoyment, personal fulfillment and recognition".

"Naseeba aged 18, takes lots of medication and quite often has epileptic fits at her school in Bolton. Sometimes 2 a day. She is fantastic because even though she feels very tired afterwards she carries on with her school work and never complains. She works hard to join in with all school activities - even the Duke of Edinbugh Award which means she has to cover many miles in her wheelchair. Everything she does she does with a smile that lights up the room. She really is an inspiration to us all!"

"We have been supporting an amazing group of Derbyshire people with long-term health conditions/disabilities to become self-employed and start their own businesses. Many have overcome huge difficulties to get back to work and each one has an inspirational story - you can read about them at: http://www.businessability.co.uk/bolsover_chesterfield_Case_studies.htm We are also working with over 40 organisations that provide employment-related support in Derbyshire and further a field - helping them to better understand the needs of disabled people. There is a web directory of all the support available at: www.helptowork.bolsover.gov.uk Lastly, as a disabled person myself I’m committed to helping others like me to succeed in life and fulfil all their potential – and be happy too!"

"A customer aged 40 from Leeds came into the job centre. He had been on long term incapacity benefit and was unable to find work. This didn't help his depression. He decided the only way forward was to become self employed. He was at this stage when I met him. We looked at how he would take his idea forward. We got him advice on becoming self employed. We did a better off calculation to look at working tax credits. He open a business bank account and I help him fund equipment etc through the adviser descretionary fund , and organised the return to work credit for him. He is now off benefit and working as a plasterer and last email tells me work is coming in. He sounded really happy".

"Candidate Adam (30) who was registered with the Leeds branch had been struggling with finding a job and felt he would never get the chance to shine. Adam has problems with his nervous system and also eyesight especially impacting on the fact he can not look at computer screens. He pushed the Leeds branch team to get him a "Work Placement" to show an employer what he could do and the Leeds Account Manager sorted a placement at Asda Morley within the Home Shopping Team. Adam impressed so much he has secured employment before Christmas and is enjoying his new role".
