Contact Centres
Nearly 800,000 people work in contact centres throughout the UK. Many of the biggest operators of contact centres in the country work with Remploy, including BT, NTL and Manpower. Remploy can support you in a number of ways;
So what's involved?
Contact centres are often the main point of contact between an organisation and its customers. Contrary to what you may have heard, the work is not all about cold-calling. People working in contact centres carry out a wide range of roles, including;
- Market research
- Answering incoming calls
- Taking orders and bookings
- Customer services
- Providing general information
Contact centre staff also update customer records, order forms and input information using computers. Every company works slightly differently, but contact centres are normally busy and bustling office environments.
Each employee works at their own station, using a headset and computer terminal. A wide range of adaptive technology can be used and Remploy will advise you and your employer about what equipment is available. You may be required to work on your own or as part of a team, but you and your colleagues will all be working to meet the same goals.
Is it for me?
Until you try a job it can be difficult to tell whether it's right for you, but Remploy can help and encourage you to;
- Be confident talking to strangers
- Be cheerful and friendly
- Be able to deal patiently with all customers
- Speak clearly and fluently
