It's Stephen's first job - and Remploy's 100th success at its Liverpool recruitment branch.

When Stephen Bulmer heard he was being offered a job with Royal Mail in Liverpool, he was overjoyed. He'd been looking for work for many years, but employers placed his disability before his many abilities and on countless occasions he was rejected.

When Stephen's disability advisor at Liverpool's Jobcentre Plus referred him to Remploy, it was evident that Stephen's dyspraxia - a condition that affects coordination and movement - was not his biggest issue. Rather, Stephen lacked self-belief because he had never worked. With Remploy's support and specialist training, his confidence soon blossomed to such an extent that he walked away from his job interview with Royal Mail feeling 'quietly confident'!

"I really wanted to work for so many reasons," said Stephen. "Remploy introduced me to employers that would look at what I could offer - and Royal Mail was top of that list."

Stephen and Remploy had double reason to celebrate - he was also the 100th successful candidate to get a job from Remploy's new specialist recruitment branch in Liverpool.

"We were all delighted!" said branch manager Debbie Turner. "We know there is a real need to find more jobs for people with disabilities in this city, but equally we know that there are employers like Royal Mail who value diversity within their workforce and candidates like Stephen who want to work. Our job is to bring the two together - and here in Liverpool we've just done it for the 100th time!"
