Film fan Paul May, 21, from Plymouth found his ideal job with Remploy's help - working at his local Reel Cinema.

If there was an Oscar for Best Supporting Remploy Branch, the Plymouth team would definitely win it! So says Paul May who's become a star of the silver screen, working at the city's Reel Cinema.

Paul, who has dyspraxia, already knew that Remploy could help him into work - he'd previously found a job in catering through the Plymouth team. So when he was looking for work again, he knew exactly who to call. He contacted Remploy and received help with updating his CV, interview techniques and job searches. Hollywood's best scriptwriters couldn't have come up with a happier ending for Paul when he got his dream job as a customer services sales assistant.

He said: "I love everything about my new job. I take tickets and show people to their seats. I'm really enjoying it. I meet lots of people and best of all I get to see two films a week for free!"

Remploy employment advisor Melanie Ford says the key to finding Paul's job was to take a proactive approach, finding out which areas he was interested in and focusing on specific local employers. "We made a wish list of places he would like to work, including Reel, and sent off a speculative CV and covering letter," she said. "Although there wasn't an advertised vacancy, they were so impressed with Paul when they interviewed him that he was offered a part time four week paid trial straight away."

Reel manager Carol Nelson said: "Paul's doing exceedingly well. We've given him customer service and cash handling training and he's great with the other team members."

His role has now been expanded and he's also working on the refreshment kiosk providing moviegoers with that cinema essential, popcorn!
