Remploy helps a South Yorkshire man regain his sense of purpose.

Remploy has just helped 37-year-old Paul Everitt from Brinsworth bring an end to a two year spell out of work - and nobody is more delighted than Paul himself!

Following a referral from Sheffield's Jobcentre Plus office, Paul worked with specialist employment advisors from Remploy, who assessed his skills and past experiences before making suggestions about career options. He had worked in factory environments before and he had excellent coordination, which made him an ideal candidate for a job with Abtech Ltd. Based in Sheffield, Abtech manufactures junction boxes for connecting electrical systems. Following his interview, Abtech had no hesitation in offering Paul a four-week trial. However, he quickly proved himself invaluable, and his temporary contract was soon converted into a full time job with the company. Paul now works on Abtech's assembly line and is being trained to work on increasingly complex components.

"My self esteem has increased considerably since I got this job," said Paul. "Of course I look forward to pay day, but having a job is much more than just that. It's about being with other people and being equal - and that's exactly how Abtech treats me. Without Remploy, I think I would still be sat at home, but with their help I now have a renewed sense of purpose."
