Justin
"Remploy has helped me make a difference."
Following confirmation that he had cancer, 32-year-old Justin Richardson realised his life would change in many ways. High on the list was a reluctant acceptance that he would have to resign from his job and put all his energies into recovering from the major operation he faced.
Thankfully, Justin's surgery was successful and, 18 months later, he started the search for a new job. His visit to his local Jobcentre Plus office in London led to an appointment with a Remploy employment advisor, who discussed with Justin his personal and professional aspirations.
"Immediately, I was impressed that Remploy took the time to understand me and what I wanted from a job," said Justin. "I was absolutely delighted when, four days later, they arranged an interview for me with Xerox Global Services - and I got the job!"
For the past seven years, Xerox has provided print room, mailroom, records and archiving services for Lloyd's Register, a leading independent risk management organisation operating from its historically significant headquarters in the City of London. Justin's role is to receive technical reports on ships from around the world and to help keep Lloyd's Register's marine database up to date.
"Having a job means far more to me than just earning a living," added Justin. "It's provided a huge confidence boost to me at a time when I needed it most. My aim is to make a difference in whatever I do, and through Xerox, Remploy has helped me achieve this."
"All candidates get assessed through a full competency based interview and we were pleased that Justin was successful," said Xerox contract manager Marc Bunce. "We always appoint on merit, but our experience is that Remploy offers very reliable candidates who are committed and want to progress in our organisation. Remploy has given us access to a new pool of talented people we can bring into our organisation."
