Jason Gay is busy stocking up the canteen at Ikea in Bristol thanks to the support of Remploy.

Jason has a speech impairment and lacked confidence in going to interviews. As a result he was unemployed for two years after leaving college.

Remploy worked with Jason to help him build his confidence and arranged an interview with employment partner, Ikea.

After a site visit gave Jason the chance to meet his manager, supervisor and work colleagues, he was offered full time employment working for IFS-Ikea Food Services and is responsible for keeping the staff canteen clean and well stocked.

Initially, Remploy reviewed Jason's progress every week, but his confidence gradually increased and he is now able to use his initiative and work well without supervision.

Mike Talbot, recruitment manager for Ikea in Bristol, is very happy: "Jason has been making good progress and we are very pleased with him. Remploy has been very supportive and we are developing a fruitful relationship which we hope to make more of in the future."

Jason is equally delighted: "Remploy has allowed me to build up my confidence and get this job. My advisor is helping me make the most of the training I am receiving. A job really changes your life, you feel part of something."
