Ian
Ian's given a new lease of life.
Thanks to Remploy and other support sources Ian has successfully gained mainstream employment as an advisor with local organisation LTL Connect.
Ian, who worked in Remploy's Treforest factory for over 11 years, left work due to ill health. Then, after being on benefits and dialysis for 10 years, Ian felt ready to go back to work, but was unsure of his job prospects.
He said: "I enjoyed my time working in the factory but when I felt well enough I knew it was my chance to work in mainstream employment."
Ian contacted Remploy and was put in touch with a local employment advisor who provided advice and support including help with writing his CV and searching for suitable job vacancies. It was through Remploy that he secured an interview with LTL Connect.
In his new job Ian provides telephone support to help people cope with stress, anxiety and depression.
Ian said, "When you are unemployed it can be very disheartening. It sometimes feels like you are facing nothing but dead ends. But, when you are working everything seems to fit into place - it seems like my life is back on track. Going into mainstream employment is one of the best decisions I have ever made."
