Gary
Biker turns admin officer.
Gary Moore, aged 39, managed a motorcycle training scheme for 12 years before breaking his right humerus and dislocating his shoulder in an accident. His arm was pinned and a series of painful bone grafts, operations and physiotherapy sessions followed.
Gary was unable to use his right arm for more than 18 months in total and only started to contemplate returning to work after he was introduced to occupational therapy last year.
"I needed advice on getting back into work and decided to contact Remploy, as I'd heard what they are doing for disabled people," said Gary.
"I attended a two week key skills course at the Leicester branch, which was a great help as I was completely out of touch with the world of work after three years of unemployment," said Gary. "It provided advice on job applications, interview techniques and confidence building and also useful tips on how I could improve my CV."
Remploy then arranged a number of job interviews for Gary. As a result of the support he received, Gary recently secured his new role as admin officer at Leicester County Court, where he is responsible for creating new case files and keeping all parties informed of case progress.
"I've been made to feel very welcome at the court," said Gary. "Everyone is friendly and talkative and it's a really interesting place to work!"
