Daniel
Daniel Guest from Combe Down has 'more reasons' than most to thank Remploy after supporting him into a job with leading retailer Morrisons.
Daniel first came to Remploy in May 2007, feeling depressed and lacking confidence at being unable to find a permanent job. Daniel, 20, has a speech impairment and learning disability. His stammer becomes more pronounced when he feels stressed which made interviews very difficult.
Remploy helped Daniel compile written notes to help him express his skills fully to potential employers and to use as reference in interviews.
He knew that if he could find a job that would give him the opportunity to develop his confidence he'd be back on the road to success. When a temporary Christmas job came up, he jumped at the chance to get some retail experience.
"Remploy taught me how to be prepared and stay calm in an interview. My advisor even met me just before my interview to support me," said Daniel.
As soon as the temporary contract ended, Daniel had the confidence to apply for a grocery assistant role at Morrisons in Bath - he was immediately offered a permanent job!
"My advisor explained my learning disability and the effect my stammer can have on my confidence to my new employer," Daniel concludes. "It's great to be back at work and know I can still talk to my advisor about how things are going."
