"I've got Remploy to thank for ending my long period of unemployment"

Charlotte Dixon had been out of work for more than a year before starting work at Tesco's Staple Hill, Bristol store in April. The bubbly 24-year had struggled to find a job, following a period of severe depression, which, she admits, left her lacking confidence.

Her road back into employment started when she registered with Remploy, the UK's leading provider of specialist employment services for people with disabilities and other barriers to work.
"They were absolutely fantastic," says Charlotte of Remploy's specialist team at Bristol. "They provided help with application forms and interview techniques, which was vital given the length of time I had been out of work."
Charlotte came through a testing group interview at Tesco. "I was very nervous and initially reluctant to put myself forward, but I realised I had to speak up if I was going to get a job. That's when the coaching I'd received from Remploy kicked in."
"Charlotte - along with the other Remploy candidates - was very impressive," says Tesco's Human Resources manager Tanya Farmer. "She was extremely well prepared, which is vitally important when candidates can be competing with hundreds of other applicants for one job."
Wendy Wood, Remploy's account manager in Bristol is delighted by the success of the blossoming partnership with Tesco. "We ran preparation workshops for candidates in partnership with Tesco before the Staple Hill store opened, which found jobs for three candidates. The ongoing relationships will ensure we supply more candidates for Tesco jobs, so the future is looking very bright."
The final word goes to a delighted Charlotte, who is now a now a valued member of the checkout team at the store. "I can't thank Remploy enough. I've got them to thank for ending my long period of unemployment," she says.
