Remploy impresses Tesco

The Tesco Customer Service Centre in Cardiff handles a variety of calls for customers using its stores and home delivery services..It has been working with Remploy for several years, and says that working together enables Tesco to tap into a pool of committed people to help meet its staffing needs.

The personnel team is responsible for recruitment within the call centre. Dannii Rollison, personnel executive said: "We are constantly impressed by Remploy's added value. Locally we rely on them as a training and resource centre, and working together we are able to offer site visits and taster sessions for prospective employees, which help toward candidates' understanding of the roles within the company.

"Remploy strongly advocates the development of employees while in work, and provides support for issues including health and physical adjustments that may be required to the working environment."

She said that Shaun Elphinstone is a good example of someone who has quickly progressed within his career. Shaun, who lives in Llanishen has dyslexia and was referred to Remploy after he finished school. With Remploy's support he started work as a customer services advisor and has progressed to other duties, as well as being elected a union health and safety representative at the centre.
