Dealernet's in-house call centre contacts over 6,000 UK car dealerships at least once a quarter, collecting information on personnel and business changes. The company runs an innovative ‘home shoring' scheme, having realised that staff equipped with the correct skills and telephony could easily undertake the work at home. 

"Until I started working with Remploy, I was spending at least half of my time recruiting, rather than focusing on our core business," said operations manager, Wayne Hodgkiss. "I'd heard of the branch in Birmingham and went in to see if they could help - a Remploy advisor made a return visit to our premises to gain an appreciation of the roles available and skills required   and then set to work finding applicants."

As a result, Wayne currently has four Remploy candidates working for him. For many of the candidates, working at home gives them the degree of flexibility they need to help manage their disabilities and health conditions.

"Thanks to Remploy my role now is really just to rubber-stamp the candidates put forward," continues Wayne. "The new callers we have found through Remploy have been excellent. They have a level of motivation, competence and maturity to the work which we rarely find with other employees.

"I would strongly advise other employers to reap the benefits of working with Remploy. People with disabilities and health conditions have many valuable skills and without Remploy we wouldn't have benefited from that."
