What support can BBC Access Services provide

Access Assessments

This service identifies and implements appropriate adjustments to the workplace and workplace practices for disabled employees. To arrange an assessment of your needs or to refer a colleague please use our online BBC Access services referral form or download, print and return a word document version. You will be contacted within two working days once we have received a completed referral form to arrange a suitable date and time for the assessment.

Communications Support

Communication support services can provide support for deaf or hearing impaired colleagues such as an interpreter or a palantypist. The Governments Access to Work scheme can pay for 100% of approved communication support costs. To arrange a communication support booking (where you already have an Access to Work agreement in place), or to access support to progress an Access to Work agreement for communication support,  please use our online BBC Access services referral form or download, print and return a word document version

Please note the Access team requires at least two weeks’ notice to guarantee a booking. Every effort will be made to provide communication support, in line with the staff member’s Access to Work agreement for short notice requests.

Facilitation Support

Facilitators support people with disabilities or individuals with long-term health conditions to access environments and technologies on an equal footing with able-bodied people. Tasks relate to an individual’s access requirement and include:

  • Guiding blind and visually impaired people
  • Reading text
  • Audio description
  • Form completion

To arrange a facilitation support booking (where you already have an Access to Work agreement in place), or to access support to progress an Access to Work agreement for facilitation support,  please use our online BBC Access services referral form or download, print and return a word document version

The Access team require at least two weeks’ notice to guarantee a booking, although every effort will be made to provide facilitation, in line with the staff member’s Access to Work agreement for short notice bookings.
